The GVB is valid for a year from Januari 1st till Januari 31st the following year and can be renewed every year. The holder of a GVB is covered during this period under the collective WA-insurance of the NGF.

How do you get a GVB?

To get a GVB you don't have to be a member of a club. You can sign up for the exam at a NGF acknowledged golfclub. The golfpro who is giving you lessons gives, when he thinks you are ready for it, a signed declaration with which you can sign up for the GVB exam.

The exam consist of 2 parts:

1. The Theory Exam

The theory exam is held in the form of a NGF rules exam under supervision of an examinator and consists of written multiplechoice-test of 20 questions about rules and regulations. The exam takes 1 hour and to pass you need to answer at least 15 of the 20 questions correctly.

2. Practical Exam

You can only particapate in the practical part of the exam after you passed the theory part. The practical exam consists of 2 parts:

1. Technical test:

• Hits: 5 hits straightly forward. Ladies has to hit at least 3 hits of 80 meter. Men has to hit at least 3 hits of 100 meter.
• Approaches: 5 approaches from ca.  20 meter from the hole and extensive outside the green. At least 3 hits has to be in reasonal distance of the hole (max. 6 meter).
• Putting: 5 holes putting over a distance from ca. 8 meter of the hole (possible 5 times the same hole but from different directions), in a maximum of 15 putts.

2. Practical test: You play 9 holes, under guidance of the examinator. The game play  is individual Strokeplay.

The practical test if succesfol when the examincator signs the paper and thereby confirms that:

- the noted score per hole is correct

- the player know the rules and etiquette of golf and knows how to apply them. There is special attention to the safety of co-players, the speed on the course , care of the course and attention to the game of co-players.

- the total score over the 9 holes is at least 18 Stablefordpoints. ( Playing handicap: men 54, ladies 55)

How can I sign up for the exam?

The pro has to give you a signed form with which you can sign up for the exam.

What are the cost of the GVB exam?

The cost for the exam in 2011 is € 75,00 including day contribution for the practical test. The cost should be paid on the day itself in cash. Re-exam practical part € 35,00

Is a GVB from abroad also valid?
